Big Pine Key Motel

I stayed one night at this motel in Big Pine, right on the Overseas (Ocean) Highway, and it was exactly what you’d expect from a classic American roadside motel straight out of a movie. The room had two double beds, a bathroom with a bathtub, carpeted floors, and a small balcony. There’s a large parking lot, plus a bar, and right across the street you’ll find a very typical American diner-style restaurant, which is super convenient and adds to the overall vibe. The location is quite good: it’s directly on the Overseas Highway and about 45 minutes from Key West. That makes it a perfect option if you want to be close enough to go have dinner or spend the evening in Key West, without paying the extremely high prices you’ll find there. That said, it’s still not cheap—but considering the area and the season, that’s to be expected. The value for money isn’t amazing, but it’s one of the few semi-affordable options in this part of the Keys. The room itself was decent and clean, though not perfectly equipped. The door was a bit hard to open, and there was no hair dryer or extra amenities like minibar items. However, soap and shampoo were provided, and overall it was perfectly fine for a one-night stop. The biggest plus is definitely the atmosphere: this is a very characteristic, old-school American motel. If you’re looking for something authentic rather than fancy, and just need a solid place to sleep for the night, it does the job.

This place is a diamond in the rough. One of the cheapest rooms available in the keys but it is very clean and the rooms have a beautiful blue/green paint scheme. Staff was extremely friendly and they helped us find some secret local spots that definitely improved our experience. All of them were smiling and very genuine down to earth people who congratulated us on our recent engagement. The cafe is just regular breakfast food but what really amazed me was the service. I've eaten at restaurants all around the world and these people were so on the ball- this was probably the best wait staff I've had at any restaurant I've ever visited, period.

The motel is older, but well maintained and clean. It is located right on the main road, which makes it very easy to access, and it’s situated on a beautiful island. A nice bonus is that Key West is only about a 40-minute drive away. The only downside is some road noise that can be heard in the rooms, but it’s manageable. Overall, a solid place to stay for the price.

Look this place is not high end but everything is clean, aqua blue, and serviceable. I liked the Keys Cafe in the parking lot. Shannon was a wonderful server and made great coffee. Super location. Close to Bahia Honda state park which is really a great spot. I loved it. Zero complaints. Have fun, folks.

Great hotel just off the main road, good price for the location. Simple and convenient . Really friendly staff! Thank you for giving us a room with a fridge.

We rented for business purposes in the area and we loved it! Staff were so friendly and supportive. Rooms were cleaned

This is not for someone who wants a "5 Star" hotel. This is a very, very clean safe, older motel (1960s-70s). Nice size, convenient (close to Marathon - 34 minutes and Key West - 40 minutes). We stayed in a downstairs room, had a refrigerator freezer. Great Value! We would stay there again!

The motel was in budget. The location is good since it stayed in between key west and bahia honda state park and seven mile bridges. Its not definitely luxurious but essentials like a oven and a fridge was available. extra blanket was served. You will pizza places near the hotel.
